Recently our Director of Sector Engagement and Communication – Graham White visited our regional office in Rockhampton to touch base with staff and key stakeholders in the justice sector.
It was a good opportunity for the team to share their local stories and challenges for service delivery in the region. Graham also met the local Youth Justice Service Centre and key NGOs critical to ATSILS service delivery. The feedback from these organisations was very positive in relation to their engagement work and dealings with the ATSILS in Rockhampton.
Our Rockhampton office delivers family, civil and criminal law services as well as Throughcare services to local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the Central Queensland region.
ATSILS is available Freecall 24/7 for urgent criminal law matters on 1800 012 255.
Due to the severe weather conditions around Cairns and Far North Queensland, we advise our Cairns regional office is temporarily closed.
In the meantime, please call 1800 012 255 to contact ATSILS.
We will provide an update when the office has re-opened.
Please keep up to date with advice from emergency services and stay safe.
CEO Shane Duffy, & Director of Communications and Sector Engagement Graham White traveled to Townsville last week to meet with local elders around opportunities for collaboration on grassroots community-led justice reinvestment (Justice Galbidera Way) initiatives to help Close the Gap. The team gave insight into the ATSILS run Throughcare program, Blue Card reforms and discussed opportunities for advocacy.
It was great to connect and share knowledge and we look forward to further engagement in the future.

Members of our Brisbane CLE team were out in the community last week empowering students at the Hymba Yumba Independent School to understand their legal rights.
Pree Sharma and Michelle Rabbidge delivered the community legal education session to the deadly young group. The session focussed on teaching the jarjums about their basic rights when interacting with police, what to do if they are stopped by the police, when to seek legal advice and what to do if they are a victim of a crime.
Approximately 30 students attended and were very engaged, asking great questions along the way. ATSILS regularly delivers legal education sessions to the community as part of our Prevention, Intervention and Community Legal Education Program.
ATSILS seeks skilled Legal Practitioners in Family Law to join our statewide team. You will join a flexible and supportive work environment with dedicated team members that allow for diverse casework. Currently, we have positions in Cairns, Hervey Bay and Ipswich.

ATSILS seeks suitably qualified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates to fill several Court Support/Field Officer vacancies across Queensland. Currently, we have positions available in Murgon, Mt Isa, Maroochydore and Palm Island.
These identified roles are focused on supporting clients to navigate the justice system. Our dedicated workplaces support many rural and remote communities surrounding our regional office locations, servicing both adult and youth jurisdictions and regular circuit travel may be required to surrounding communities. Being a steady role model to community members is an ideal quality, as is an understanding of our clients’ rights in seeking justice.
