Our Ipswich Office seeks a skilled Legal Practitioner in Civil Law with a keen interest in social justice for an exciting newly funded part time (21-hours per week) role, fixed term until 30 June 2025. Embed ATSILS’ legal service provision into Kambu’s clinics at Ipswich and Laidley for the purpose of providing legal assistance to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples who might otherwise be unlikely to seek legal assistance.
You will have frequent opportunity to provide expert casework assistance and information directly to clients, and to external stakeholders about client matters. Develop, use, and evaluate culturally safe resources and practices for the delivery of effective legal services; improve the health and well-being of clients of the Health Justice Partnership; achieve better justice and health outcomes for patients of Kambu’s clinics at Ipswich and Laidley; improve understanding and awareness among staff from ATSILS and Kambu about health and legal issues, and the intersectionality of both, experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples; and improve referral processes to make services more accessible to clients with health and legal needs.
Ideally you will demonstrate a high level of professional service in all aspects of Civil Law and have a minimum of two years’ full-time post-admission experience, resilience for a range of complex work and ability to develop culturally sensitive service skills.
Our Workforce Development Strategy will enable you to undertake both team and formal training to succeed. We will interview promptly and look to candidates who can commence within seven weeks.
