Our Mount Isa Regional Office provides an extraordinary opportunity to lead a busy, resilient regional team while practicing Criminal Law. It also presents an interesting Court Circuit with a variety of remote Courts operating on Mornington Island, smaller towns such as Cloncurry and Doomadgee, and other locations in Queensland’s outback.

You will have the support of a dedicated team of 16, including four Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Court Support Officers and nine Legal Practitioners in both our Mount Isa and Normanton Offices. We have two full-time Administration staff members and a Youth Through Care Officer focusing on reducing recidivism and incarceration rates of our youth clients.

You will require five years’ post-admission experience to apply for the role, but formal Practice Management qualifications are not essential. This role reports directly to our Chief Executive Officer and our Principal Legal Officer and is a key leadership position for Queensland.

Candidates with less than five years’ post-admission experience may consider applying for our Practice Standards Officer or Legal Practitioner position as a strong pathway is in place.
