Our ATSILS Beenleigh/Southport Office is looking for a dedicated Paralegal/Junior Legal Practitioner to join our Family and Civil Law Team. This role supports a handful of Family and Civil Law Legal Practitioners in selected Southeast Queensland ATSILS locations, working two days from our Beenleigh Office, and three days from our Southport Office per week.

As a Paralegal provide high quality support services in a busy team environment, and/or as a Junior Legal Practitioner provide Paralegal duties and legal assistance to clients primarily in the Family and Civil Laws jurisdiction. Opportunity to engage directly with clients daily, providing highly confidential legal and administrative support to Legal Practitioners in Family Law and Civil Law casework in Courts or Tribunals including scheduling and follow-through on appearances in appropriate jurisdictions (including Domestic Violence applications, Family Law matters, Child Protection matters, Wills and Estates).

Ideally suits candidates with strong organisational, administrative and support skills. Newly or nearly admitted candidates must be aware that considerable paralegal duties using information technology and in-person service forms the bulk of this role.

Our Workforce Development Strategy will enable you to undertake both team and formal training to succeed. We will interview promptly and look to candidates who can commence within seven weeks’ of interview.

ATSILS seeks a skilled Legal Practitioner in Criminal Law. Our dedicated workplace supports many communities, in adult and youth jurisdictions. Provide high quality legal representation to clients in a variety of teams, based in any Queensland location with significant expectation of legal services to Regional and Remote Offices throughout Queensland. The ability to travel by road, air, and in rare cases short sea trips, will be essential for this role. It is estimated that 50% of work time will involve travel for extended periods, some of which are in remote locations.

To be successful in this role, you will need at least five years’ PAE experience, or other demonstrated advocacy experience, resilience for a range of complex work and ability to develop culturally competent service skills. Your experience with both Duty Lawyer type responsibilities and Hearings will be a distinct advantage, as will provision of service in the youth jurisdiction. Court Support Officers and our Administration Staff provide extensive service to this role and know our communities well.
